ManyChat alternatives for Instagram: cost compared tool by tool (October 2026)
The tools people compare against ManyChat for Instagram are Chatfuel, the sales CRM Kommo, and building your own flow with Make or n8n, but none of them bills in euros with tax already included the way HookReply does: HookReply's Pro plan costs €25 a month (€20 billed yearly) for 2,500 active contacts across 3 Instagram accounts, against ManyChat's $39 a month (tax not included, one account) for the same volume, checked on ManyChat's official pricing and help pages on 6 October 2026. HookReply also has a free plan, bills every paid tier in euros with tax included and only automates Instagram — no WhatsApp, Messenger, or TikTok. It is open through a waitlist while Meta reviews its app.
Signups are closed for now and run through a waitlist: you cannot create a HookReply account today. The plans and prices on this page are the ones HookReply has published and will apply once signups reopen.
Every figure in this comparison comes from an official page, checked on the date next to it:
- ManyChat, checked 6 October 2026: monthly and yearly prices for every plan, with its tax note at the bottom of the page; and its help center on active contacts and overage fees and on one Instagram account per ManyChat account.
- Chatfuel, checked 6 October 2026: plans, credit wallet and company limits.
- Kommo, checked 21 October 2026: per-seat prices and billing terms.
- HookReply: plans and prices published at hookreply.com, tax included.
Who should look at HookReply instead of ManyChat?
HookReply fits better than ManyChat when every one of these verifiable criteria applies to your account, each one checked on the official pages linked in the box above:
- You only automate Instagram. HookReply handles comments on posts, Reels, lives and ads, direct messages, and story replies and mentions — nothing else. If you also run WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, SMS or email flows, ManyChat covers those channels and HookReply does not.
- You want to pay in euros with tax already in the price. HookReply publishes its plans in euros, tax included. ManyChat's pricing page states prices do not include tax and adds it at checkout based on your billing country.
- You don't want per-contact overage charges. ManyChat bills every active contact past your plan's cap (from $0.10 down to $0.004 each, depending on plan) unless you set a spending limit yourself. HookReply never charges for overage; instead, once you hit your cap, new contacts stop getting a reply until the next month or until you upgrade, and there's a daily cap on automated sends.
- You run more than one Instagram account. ManyChat connects one Instagram account per ManyChat account, so a second account needs its own separate subscription and its own bill. HookReply's Pro plan covers 3 Instagram accounts under one subscription, Business covers 10, and Agencia is unlimited, all sharing one contact pool.
- You want follow-gating or email capture without paying first. HookReply allows both on its free plan. ManyChat's Data Collection and Actions & Conditions blocks, which cover that, only unlock from the Essential plan ($17 a month).
If your automations reach beyond Instagram, see our ManyChat pricing guide for the full tier-by-tier breakdown before deciding whether a switch makes sense.
ManyChat, Chatfuel, Kommo and HookReply at a glance
ManyChat, Chatfuel and HookReply all reply to Instagram comments and DMs with keyword triggers; Kommo is a sales CRM with a shared inbox, not a flow builder, and is included here because it comes up in the same searches. The table below lists only what each vendor states on its own pricing or help pages:
| Criterion | ManyChat | Chatfuel | Kommo | HookReply |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Currency and tax | USD, tax not included | USD; its pricing page does not state whether tax is included | USD; no tax statement on its pricing page | EUR, tax included |
| Billing unit | Active contacts per month | Subscription plus an AI/messaging credit wallet (not contacts) | Per user, billed every 6 months minimum | Active contacts per month |
| Overage past your cap | Charged per extra contact, unless you set a limit | Replies pause when the credit wallet hits zero | Not applicable (per-seat, not per-contact) | Never charged; new contacts wait until next month or an upgrade |
| Instagram accounts per subscription | 1; each extra account needs its own ManyChat subscription | 1 on Business, up to 3 on Agency S | 1 on Base (+1 per extra paid user) | 3 on Pro, 10 on Business, unlimited on Agencia |
| Free plan / trial | Free: $0, 25 active contacts/month | Free: $0, comment replies only, no credits | No free plan; 14-day trial | Free: €0, 100 active contacts/month |
| Monthly billing option | Yes | Yes | No; 6-month minimum commitment | Yes |
The table only covers Instagram automation. ManyChat and Chatfuel both reach further than HookReply: ManyChat into WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, SMS and email, and Chatfuel into WhatsApp and Facebook alongside Instagram. HookReply's free plan signs every automated DM with “Powered by HookReply”; paid plans drop that signature after the first message to each contact.
If your volume is small enough to stay on a free tier, our comparison of free comment-to-DM tools looks only at what each free plan actually includes, before you pay for any of them.
How much do they cost at 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 active contacts?
ManyChat and HookReply both bill by active contacts per month, so their prices sit side by side in the same unit. For each row, the price shown is the lowest monthly cost at that volume, counting ManyChat's published overage fee when staying on a smaller plan costs less than moving up, monthly first and the yearly-equivalent price in parentheses:
| Active contacts/month | ManyChat (USD, tax not included) | HookReply (EUR, tax included) |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | Pro · $39 ($29) | Pro · €25 (€20) |
| 5,000 | Business · $99 ($69) | Business · €59 (€47) |
| 10,000 | Business + overage · ≈$161.50 (≈$114) | Agencia · €119 (€95) |
Chatfuel and Kommo don't fit this table because they don't bill by stored contacts. Chatfuel's Business plan is $20 a month ($18 a month billed yearly, $216 a year) with unlimited contacts but a $20-a-month AI credit wallet that runs out faster the more conversations it handles; Kommo's Base plan is $25 a user a month, billed every 6 months up front ($150), with Instagram included from that tier. Neither number converts cleanly into a per-contact figure, so compare them on what they include, not on this table.
Converting currencies changes the comparison, too: these are ManyChat's list prices before tax, and HookReply's after tax, in a different currency. Read them as what each company actually charges, not as a single exchange-rate conversion.
What is ManyChat, Chatfuel, Kommo, and doing it yourself?
ManyChat is a chat-marketing platform that automates conversations across Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram, SMS and email with a visual flow builder, billing in US dollars by active contacts across five plans: Free, Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced.
Chatfuel is built around an AI assistant ("Fuely AI") that answers Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp conversations and automates comment replies, charging a flat subscription plus a credit wallet that pays for AI usage and outbound messages rather than for how many contacts you store.
Kommo is a sales CRM with a shared team inbox that connects Instagram, WhatsApp and other channels to a sales pipeline; it isn't a keyword-triggered flow builder like ManyChat, and it bills per user rather than per contact, with a minimum 6-month commitment.
Doing it yourself with Make or n8n means connecting Meta's Graph API through either automation platform's own workflow builder: there's no Instagram-specific plan to buy, just the automation platform's own tier (most have a free tier for light volume) plus the time it takes you to build keyword matching, a 24-hour-window check, a follow gate and a contact list yourself, and to keep it running through Meta's API changes.
HookReply automates Instagram comments, direct messages, and story replies and mentions through Meta's official Instagram API, with keyword triggers, a follow gate, email and phone capture, tags, webhooks to Make, Zapier or n8n, and an AI reply step from its Pro plan, billed in euros with tax included across five plans: Free, Esencial, Pro, Business and Agencia.
How do you switch from ManyChat to HookReply?
Switching from ManyChat to HookReply means rebuilding each Instagram automation by hand: neither tool imports the other's flows or contact list. This order avoids leaving a comment or DM unanswered mid-switch:
- List every live ManyChat automation on Instagram. Write down each trigger, its keywords, the message text, any links, and what data it asks for.
- Connect your Instagram professional account to HookReply. A personal account can't be connected; HookReply needs a business or creator account.
- Rebuild each automation with the same keywords, so your older posts keep working. HookReply's keyword match ignores case and accents and looks for the whole word, so add plurals and common variants.
- Turn off the ManyChat automation before turning on its HookReply copy. Instagram allows only one private reply per comment, according to Meta's documentation for private replies, so running both at once means they compete for the same comment.
- Test from a second account: comment the keyword and check both the public reply and the DM.
- Cancel ManyChat once everything works. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, and any overage from that period is still charged; set a contact-limit cap in ManyChat's billing settings first if you want to avoid extra charges during the switch.
What carries over from ManyChat, and what doesn't:
| In ManyChat | In HookReply |
|---|---|
| Keywords and message text | Copy them over as-is |
| Button menus and multi-step flows | Rebuilt by hand: up to 30 messages per automation, with buttons to a link or to another step |
| Follow check, email/phone capture, tags | Rebuilt as steps in the flow, on any plan |
| A PDF sent as a file | Sent as a button linking to the PDF; HookReply doesn't attach files |
| Native integrations (Google Sheets, HubSpot, Klaviyo…) | Rebuilt with a webhook to Make, Zapier or n8n — the same approach we cover in connecting Instagram DMs to GoHighLevel |
| Your contact list, tags and fields | Not imported: each person becomes a contact again the next time they write or comment |
| WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, SMS or email automations | Not available: HookReply only automates Instagram |
| Multiple team members on one account | Not available: one owner per panel |
Verdict: is switching worth it?
For an Instagram-only account, HookReply costs less than ManyChat at every contact tier checked on 6 October 2026 (€25 tax included versus $39 tax not included for 2,500 contacts), bills in euros, never charges overage, and covers several Instagram accounts under one subscription. The trade-off: once you hit your contact cap, new people stop getting a reply until the next month or an upgrade, there's a daily send cap, and ManyChat covers channels HookReply doesn't, including WhatsApp, Messenger and TikTok. If your automations live on those other channels, switching doesn't make sense; if they're all on Instagram, they rebuild with the same keywords.
HookReply currently runs on a waitlist: you can sign up below and we'll let you know as soon as you can connect your Instagram.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to ManyChat for Instagram only?
It depends on which criteria matter to you. If you only use Instagram and want to pay in euros with tax included, with no overage charges and several accounts under one subscription, HookReply meets those criteria, checked on 6 October 2026; keep in mind that once you reach its contact cap, new contacts wait until the next month. If you need WhatsApp, Messenger or TikTok in the same tool, ManyChat or Chatfuel cover more channels.
Is there a free alternative to ManyChat?
Yes. HookReply's free plan covers 100 active contacts a month with 1 Instagram account and 3 automations; ManyChat's Free plan covers 25 active contacts a month across Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram, with its own branding on the first message to each contact.
What's cheaper than ManyChat for Instagram?
At every contact tier checked on 6 October 2026, HookReply's published price is lower than ManyChat's: €25 (tax included) against $39 (tax not included) for 2,500 active contacts, and €59 against $99 for 7,500. ManyChat still covers more channels than Instagram alone.
Does ManyChat charge for contacts over my plan's limit?
Yes. ManyChat's help center states it charges a fee for each active contact past your plan's cap, from $0.10 on Essential down to $0.004 on Advanced, unless you set a spending limit yourself; HookReply never charges extra, but new contacts stop getting a reply until the next month or an upgrade once you hit its cap.
Can I move my ManyChat automations to another tool?
No tool imports another's flows or contact list: you rebuild each automation by hand. Keep the same keywords so your older posts keep working, and turn off the ManyChat version before turning on its replacement, since Instagram only allows one private reply per comment.
ManyChat or Kommo: what's the difference?
They're different categories of tool. ManyChat is a keyword-triggered flow builder for Instagram, WhatsApp and other messaging channels; Kommo is a sales CRM with a shared inbox and a pipeline, billed per user every six months rather than by contact volume.
Is HookReply available to sign up for right now?
Not yet: HookReply is running a waitlist while Meta reviews its app, and the plans on this page will apply once signups reopen.
